ROCKWALL, TX (June 14, 2022) Bonafide Betties Pie Co, voted Best Pies in Texas by USA Today in 2018, and Tate Farms, one of Rockwall County’s oldest working family farms join together to present the 3rd Annual Official Texas Pie Fest ~ which just so happens to land on   International Picnic Day .

Pie vendors from all over Texas will be set up selling pie slices, whole pies, pie shakes, pie pops, hand pies, savory pies and more. Vendors like Royer’s Pie Haven from   Round Top , Tiny Pies from   Austin ,    Sweet Lucy’s Pies from   Ft Worth   and Emporium Pies from   Dallas   are just a few of the many Texas based pie shops that will be on hand at   Tate Farms on June 18 .

Pie is said to be a great equalizer; crossing boundaries and cultures, igniting conversations and creating comfort for all. “Our goal is to bring people out to the farm, right out side of the city and spend the day enjoying food, fellowship and fresh air,” organizers said. 

New, this year , the pie eating   contests will be FREE with entry   to Texas Pie Fest patrons AND their dogs. There will be 3 categories; adults, children and dogs. All 3 categories will have 3 winners. The pie baking contest also has a new twist, Texas Pie Fest patrons are the judges. Also, leading to 3 winners. All pie will be for sale but patrons will have several chances throughout the day to win pie at the old fashioned Pie Walk.

Pie Baking Contest, Pie Eating Contest, Doggie Pie Eating Contest, Pie Walk, Pie Throwing, Pie Fight, Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs, Easy Slider Food Truck, Live Music, 4H Expo, 40 + Market Vendors, Picnic Area to Celebrate International Picnic Day, Tattoos by Elm    Street Tattoo and more

WHERE:   Tate Farms   –   12992 S FM 548, Rockwall, TX 75032

There will be more than just pie. Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs, Easy Slider Food Truck, Popcorn Papa, Taco Wasted, Eddie Deen’s BBQ and more. Each vendor will have food and drinks for sale.  

For the safety of all guests, water will be FREE   to Texas Pie Fest ticket holders. “We want guests to enjoy every bit of this festival and we feel like providing water is one way we can ensure people enjoy their day,” said Evan Tate, owner of Tate Farms. There will also be a picnic area for guests to   bring their own blankets and chairs to celebrate International Picnic Day.

Live music will be provided by   State Fair Records of Dallas . Artists such as Nathan Wells, Frankie Leonie and Garrett Owen will be onstage throughout the day. Patrons will also have rows of shopping from over 40 vintage and handmade retail vendors.   Tattoos   will be given onsite from Elm Street Tattoo. Pie themed, of course!

The day ends with a real   Pie Fight   where participants have the option of covering up in a rain poncho provided by Tate Farms or just going all in. Hundreds of whipped cream pies are provided for festival goers to throw at each other. The McClendon Chisolm Fire Department will be onsite to hose down all pie fighters before they head home.

Tickets to Texas Pie Fest are $10 per person , children 10 years old and under are FREE. Dogs are welcome and FREE as well. Parking is free. There is handicapped parking and handicapped accessible restrooms. There is also a baby changing and nursing area.
