Memorial Day weekend is off to a rainy start in the Portland area, with the National Weather Service issuing a rare forecast that there is 100% chance of rain.

Between a quarter-inch and half-inch of precipitation is expected by day’s end, weather service forecasters say.

The temperature should hover in the mid-50s all day and all evening, they forecast. The odds of rain are extremely high from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
